Orlando Fun...Day by Day...Day 1

Hooray! The Grays Have Invaded Florida!
Tuesday, May 5, 2009 was a travel day so we won't count that in our tally. The kids did great on the airplane. It was fairly uneventful except for me leaving my laptop suitcase on the rental car shuttle making Tony SPRINT after a bus to retrieve it! Fortunately, we were already AT the rental car center!!!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 7:45 a.m. officially starts our vacation fun. The way in which the Disney properties are laid out is that there are 4 different theme parks. The Magic Kingdom (think Disneyland on steroids), Epcot Center (there is no comparison for this park since it's so unique), Animal Kingdom (Think San Diego Zoo), and Disney Studios (similar to Universal Studios). In order to get to The Magic Kingdom, you first have to make your way to the Disney Transit and Transportation Center (TTC). Here you park your car, purchase your theme park tickets and ride either the Monorail or Ferry Boat over to the park.
Walking from the parking lot to the TTC. We got lucky and were able to park close to the tunnel so we didn't have to ride the tram up to the TTC entrance.

Tony and the kids waiting to board the Monorail. We usually ride the Ferry boat over but they were still getting set up. The kids were still a little sleepy.

Our first family photo inside The Magic Kingdom. We had the picture taker take our pictures using their camera as well as our own. It's very nice to have a semi-unobstructed view of the castle!
Off they march towards the castle to check in for our first Character Breakfast with Cinderella and the Princesses.

Cinderella's Royal Table
Our breakfast with the princesses in the Magic Kingdom was called "Once Upon a Time Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table. There is a restaurant inside Cinderella's castle and our reservations were for 8:20am and we were about 5 minutes late checking in. Oh well! Anyone who has early morning character meals in a theme park is allowed to get into the park before it opens. However you still cannot ride any rides afterwards because they have each outlet roped off until the park officially opens. The breakfast food was sooooo yummy! Stuffed french toast with jam, scrambled eggs, spicy sausage links and bacon for the King and Queens (adults) and scrambled eggs, bacon, and french toast sticks for the Lords and Lasses (kiddos). The kids got pictures with Cinderella prior to us sitting down and eating as well as swords for the boys, magic wand for the girl and wishing stars.
As part of our pre-paid breakfast package, we received pictures taken by the Disney photographers. Although I stepped in there as well and took a picture of the kids with Cinderella.

Belle (pre-princess) with the 3 kids. We have them looking off in different directions. Oh well!

Aerial dressed in her princess costume with the 3 kids. Jackson has started a habit of not looking directly at the camera.
Yum yum, good grub! During part of the breakfast, there is an opportunity for all guests to wish upon their wishing star. The Lords and Lasses are to waive their wands and swords high in the air, hold their magic wishing star and make a wish!
Aurora from Sleeping Beauty also came to our table to see us.
Last but certainly not least, Snow White graced us with her presence.

With our bellies full and legs and feet ready for a long day of walking we headed outside towards Fantasyland. Of course the boys wanted to play with their swords but we had a long day of rides to do!

Fantasyland
Our first ride was Snow White's Scary Ride. Ya...we won't be doing that one again EVER! The consensus was that it was way to scary and the "uguly witch" was bad. (Taylor speak). We then headed over to ride the following rides.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (all of us)
Dumbo (Taylor, Jax, Myself)
Peter Pan (Tony and AJ)
It's a Small World
Peter Pan (whole family)
Potty Break and a small snack.

Afterwards it was time for Mickey's Philharmagic.
-- This 3-D show indoors that takes place in a grand concert hall. Mickey Mouse stars in the show and is joined by Donald Duck, Ariel, Aladdin, Jasmine, and Simba.

On our way out of Fantasyland we rode on the Tomorrowland Speedway (I rode with Jax and Tony rode with Tay and Anthony). In Disneyland, this same ride is called Autopia.
The two awesome drivers that Tony and I each had! I think this is a preview of things to come when the boys hit driving age.

Tony had Taylor and Anthony in his car with him. Little Tay is too short to see above the hood of the car. I think she had fun despite that. But Tony found out that he and Anthony will definitely need to work on steering skills later on.

I am finally in another picture. :-) My handsome driver and I in our Speedway car. Despite Jackson BARELY able to see over the hood of the car, he didn't do half bad steering.

Mickey's Toontown Fair
We walked over to Mickey's Toontown where we rode on Goofy's Barnstormer.
-- It was a short and sweet roller coaster. Fun for the whole family!

We had to visit more Princesses for miss Taylor and then went to Mickey's house and took pictures with Mickey and Minnie.

Awwwwwwwwwwww, Potential Christmas Card Photo???

Then it was time for a Frozen lemonade and fruit break. My kids plowed through a container of watermelon and grapes. YUMMY! After that another Potty Break.

Adventureland
More food and more rides. We stopped at the El Pirata Y El Perico Restaurant (Pirate and Parrot) and had tacos and taco salad...YUM! After another potty break we walked outside and stood in line for Autographs with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee (Mom and Tay).
We waited in line to see these two, then about 2 parties ahead of us, they had to take a break and leave. We continued to wait in line until they got back but the girls got separated from the boys during our wait. Oh well, the nice Disney cast members were able to assist us.

While we were waiting for Captain Hook and Mr. Smee to come back from their break, Tony took the kids to see the Pirate side show outside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. That's where Anthony got chosen from the audience to become a pirate. And he got to duel Jack Sparrow!
-- This was quite a highlight for him.
Once we grouped back up we rode on Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride
-- (it's like a 2 row Dumbo ride).
Pirates of the Caribbean ride
Stopped to get some souveniers.
-- Each kid brought their own spending money and the boys HAD to purchase guns with their money. Thank goodness for package pickup in the parks because Anthony got this rifle that is almost as tall as he is!
Time for the Jungle Cruise ride.
-- Our boat operator named Sara was an AWESOME! Some of them are very cheesy but she actually had some decent jokes.
Stopped for The Tiki Room Under New Management
-- Tony and I fell asleep. Hee hee. The 3 kids watched the whole show but it was the perfect opportunity for the adults to catch some zzzzzzzzzzzzz's. It was air conditioned and dark. Great place for a nap if you can sleep through noise. :-)
Then we stopped for our favorite Pineapple Dole Whip and of course another Potty Break.

Then it was time for us to leave because we were exhausted from a great fun filled day! We stopped at package pickup to gather our souveniers and left for the hotel. We ate dinner at Chick-Fil-A and then headed back to the hotel room and Anthony and Jackson did some of their homework they brought with them.
